Privacy
Search Party is a free browser game. There are no accounts, no ads and no advertising trackers. This page explains, in plain English, the small amount of data the game does handle.
No account, no sign-up
You can play solo or join a friend's party without registering. If you type a display name for a party or a highscore, it is stored with that game only — we never ask for an email address, and we do not build a profile from it.
What we measure
We record aggregate gameplay events so we can tell which hunts work: which game was selected and started, when rounds start, are completed or run out of time, when the target is found, when a wrong object is tapped, replays, party created/joined and party size, plus the game mode, difficulty, round number and how long a round took. In Letter Box we also record that a word guess was correct and how many letters had been revealed at that point.
Each event also carries whether the page is running as an installed home-screen app or in a normal browser tab, plus an approximate country (a two-letter code such as DK or US) that our hosting platform derives from the network connection. We do not retain your IP address for this, and we never store city, coordinates or any precise location — the browser is never asked for your location. Both are used only for aggregate counts.
We do not store typed guesses or other free text, player-entered names, IP addresses or device/browser fingerprints in these events. If measurement fails, the game simply carries on — it never blocks play.
No cross-visit tracking ID
Events are grouped by a random identifier that only lives in the page's memory for the current play session. It is never written to cookies, localStorage or any other browser storage, and it disappears when you reload or close the tab. That means we cannot recognise you on a later visit, and we do not measure day-1/day-7 return rates.
What is stored in your browser
A few strictly functional things are saved locally on your device, never sent anywhere as tracking: your sound and music on/off choices, your local highscores per game, and — while a party is running — your seat in that party so a refresh does not kick you out. You can clear them any time by clearing site data in your browser.
This site is hosted on the Lovable platform. Platform-level hosting and analytics are outside this project's code, so we cannot make an absolute “no cookies at all” claim on the hosting layer's behalf.
Multiplayer data
A party lobby stores its game code, the chosen game, and each player's chosen display name and score for the duration of that game. Party URLs are temporary and are not indexed by search engines.
